Transparent enough to challenge.

This is a research pilot, not an assurance opinion. Every headline score is supported by established formulas and visible component measures.

FRE

Reading ease

Flesch Reading Ease estimates sentence and word difficulty. The pilot uses an English syllable heuristic.

FKG

Grade level

Flesch–Kincaid Grade estimates the education level associated with the prose structure.

FOG + SMOG

Complexity

Gunning Fog and SMOG use sentence length and estimated polysyllabic words. SMOG appears only when at least 30 sentences are available.

CLI + ARI

Character measures

Coleman–Liau and the Automated Readability Index provide complementary estimates based on characters, words and sentences.

Pilot composite

A documented research composite of plain language, sentence clarity, word accessibility and flow.

Pilot limitations

English prose only. Scanned PDFs require OCR and are not yet supported. Tables, references, formulas, names and specialist terminology may affect scores. Results should support—not replace—expert review.

Privacy by design

The report stays with the reader.
